Ongoing Learning

Recognizing that learning and growth is ongoing, require intentional effort, and continuous exploration.

Meaningful Observations is committed to living our values and continuous learning to contribute to the work of dismantling systems that harm rather than help disadvantaged communities. We do this by naming the elephants in the room, lifting up different lived experiences through the work we do, and challenging our own biases and assumptions as we do so.

  • Elide has received funding to continue an independent research project she began in 2018 exploring how power dynamics between and among funders, evaluators, and grantees impact the usefulness of evaluation findings for all involved. The project sought to capture stories from the perspective of grantees--those that stand the most to gain or lose in these relationships--to highlight how these dynamics can negatively impact evaluation findings. Preliminary findings were presented at the American Evaluation Association’s 2018 Conference via roundtable presentation. In 2023-2024 Elidé will continue this work with the support from the Center for Evaluation Innovation and a board of advisors to update and continue that research. Findings from that work will be shared publicly upon completion.
